december 29 1996 - day three - besancon, france

day three in europe.

today, we slept in until about 10 and then laura took us on the grand tour of the city. it was cold today. it keeps getting colder here. she took us up to the roman citadel, which is this huge roman city on the hill overlooking besancon. it is completely surrounded by a wall and it was very, very cool. we didn't go inside, but got some great looks at it from around the grounds.

i did not know what to expect from this city, but it is a very nice place. we walked by the river and bought bread to eat with our pasta for dinner. if we had a functioning bathroom, it would have been close to perfect. maybe a little warmer weather too. some of laura's friends are over now. brian is enjoying talking to all of them in french. it's lost on me. we're just trying to figure out what we're going to do tomorrow. keep ya posted.
